A few people have asked me recently, what is my very favorite type of shoot? I love getting to photograph people at all points in their lives, from engagement and wedding to baby bumps… kids and families… I love the unique creative aspects of each, and I really have fun doing it all!
But as for my very favorite – this is it! Doing portraiture of women in the studio is the best. I love everything about it… picking out the perfect outfits and accessories, chatting and getting to know each other during hair and makeup, the art of posing, and most of all – the moment that I get to show her the photos for the first time! I’ve never used a professional model in any of my photographs, so I love giving everyday women the chance to get the supermodel treatment. When we get busy with our jobs, responsibilities, and families, we don’t often have the chance to appreciate how beautiful we are as women… so how great is it to have a fun day of beauty, fashion, and girl time, where it’s all about YOU!

Anna came in to do a glamour & boudoir session… the best of both worlds! Nicole Laughlin did her gorgeous hair and makeup.

I think that when I talk about what I do, sometimes people get thrown off when I mention the word “glamour”. Their minds might go straight back to the 80’s glamour shots, or they might just think that “glamour” is not their style… but this is 2015! What I do is contemporary, magazine-style photography that shows each woman’s unique style and beauty. Whether you love beauty & fashion or you would rather live in sweatpants, you can do a shoot like this and you will look amazing!

For this session, we did a mix of a couple more casual looks, boudoir looks, and of course a little black dress!

One of the best wardrobe items for a glamour session is a little black dress that looks great on you!

Doing a shoot like this can be a life-changing experience. Too often, women look in the mirror and pay more attention to what they see as flaws, rather than appreciating their beauty. Nobody is perfect and everyone has insecurities. But we all have beauty on the inside out, and we all deserve to have gorgeous images of ourselves that look like a page from a magazine.
